My Miniatures holder thingy (Version 2)

Version 1 is above. Medicine bottle, old Tamiya pot cap, and a magnet.

On/under the mini base, i put a stainless steel washer held by Clear Gorilla glue. This worked....but the mini would shift around some. I think it was something with the round shape of the washer and magnetic fields or something like that. Also, while the hold was strong, i think it could've been better.

So enter Version 2.

This time I was going to forego the Tamiya cap and put the magnet in Aves apoxie putty.

Drilled holes for the putty to get some air for better drying.

After a few hours, I was able to peel the paper off and adjust things.

So, once that was all fine, i started to work on the bottle.

Since the bottle doens't exactly have a bit footprint or base, I used metal 1/4" nuts to give the base some heft (?). the weight helps keep the bottle upright when you move it around. Or accidentally bump it on the table. I found that even my Guard minis made the bottle a little unstable.

Gave the nuts a coating of white glue.

Then it was time to let them sit and dry. This is the bugger of this, it took a few days for the glue to set. But, it works. I don't have any minis now to work on, so that's ok.

Finally, after they cure, I used super glue to hold the cap on and not be able to turn. I just dump a bunch in around the threads.

I thought...the nuts were cured, but right after i took the previous picture, they fell down. Not a bit deal, it doean't have to look pretty, just work.

Finally, i gave the top a layer of superglue, to hold the magnet in the putty, should the bond fail.

Now, version 2 of the mini bases.

I bought some roof flashing from the home depot for about 80 cents each, but them up into approx 3/4" squares. I'm using 32mm bases for my minis.

At first I used a set of tin snips, but found that my utility scissors worked better. And gave a cleaner edge.

I did prick a finger during this and bled like a stuck pig for several minutes, so if you try this, be careful.

When I had the squares cut out, I went through and bent their corners in a little so they would bend up and under the mine base over the washer.

I got a few extra base in my last pack of Ral Partha bases, not complaining. I stuck the square over the washer and filled in the base with glue. Gave them 24 hours to dry and I'm done.

With these bases with the squares and the version 2 holder. It holds the base quite well. Much better than Version 1. I think I'm gonna have to pick up some construction grade sandpaper and sand down the Tamyia caps, just enough to get a better hold.

This not only helped with my paining, but it gives the finished mini some weight, a bit harder to knock over.

Well, that's it for today. Hope you enjoyed.

Cheers!
